The Role

The Product Engineer Lead must have entrepreneurial ambitions and a strong professional record to back them up. We are looking for a creative problem solver that is able to manage everything from high level project milestones down to the technical details of every part. The job responsibilities include technical development and engineering project management of a variety of products and product lines, from conceptual stages through design, validation testing and manufacturing. This position will report directly to the Product Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Create and collaborate with Design, Engineering, Product Development, Safety and Quality teams to develop children's toys and products that promote early stage development.
  • Manage entire product lines through New Product Development pipeline.
  • Create and evaluate designs that adhere to strict safety, regulatory and performance requirements.
  • Advise on feasibility of material selections to meet product requirements.
  • Lead Engineering Point of Contact with Quality Engineers, Safety and Product Development for product pipelines.
  • Interpret and communicate product milestones in intradepartmental meetings.
  • Maintain a working relationship directly with suppliers to evaluate designs and optimize for manufacturing.
  • Research and implement new manufacturing methods and materials for use in new or existing products. Up to 25% international travel required to suppliers in Asia.

About You

  • 5 years of professional experience performing mechanical engineering of materials (including material comparisons and applications) using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (“GD&T”) and performing computer-aided design (using Solidworks) in the children’s toys field;
  • 5 years of professional experience using polymers and design for injection molding, model making, and prototyping;
  • 5 years of professional experience adhering to consumer products safety guidelines (including ASTM F963-17); 2 years of professional experience drafting technical standards and practices using Engineering PDM systems; and
  • 5 years of professional experience with engineering project management and executing engineering projects independently.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or U.S. equivalent in Operations, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Product Engineer in the toy industry.
  • Must be local or willing to relocate to Boise, Idaho, remote candidates are not eligible for this role.
